Bar chart is the very basic chart used for the comparison of data. However, there are way you can convert Simple bar chart into the Cylindrical fill bar chart. This bar chart can be used to show the % completion of any parameter, example: to show how much Percentage of total is completed.
Where can be used this Chart?
Cylindrical filled bar Chart can be used to create the the percentage of completion , target completion and progress/track the target with actuals and count.
Below are the steps used for designing of Cylindrical fill bar chart in tableau:
Steps:
1. First step is to create the Calculated field with %100Bar name as shown below image, This calculated field will be used as 100% Cylindrical bar
2. Drag Item Type on columns and %100Bar and Total profit on rows
3. Change the “Total profit” into the dual Axis
4. Then change the both measures into the bar chart from Mark Card option
5. now convert the Total profit measure into “Percentage of total” using Quick table calculation option,, as show below image
This change only applicable if you are showing %, else you can keep any other measure as is.
6. New Synchronize the axis via right click on secondary axis
7. Now right click on first axis and click on Edit Axis option
8. Then click on Fixed radio button and set Fixed start = 0 and Fixed end = 1
9, Now set the data label of bar chart by selecting the “Show mark label” from Mark card option for Total profit measures and also you can change the colour of cylindrical fill bar chart from mark card
10. Now finally your cylindrical fill bar chart will look like below image
