What is Input Control in Sap Analytics cloud ?

Input control in SAC is a widget which can be used to view data from various perspectives by allowing filtering on dimensions or measures. SAP Analytics Cloud allow you to control your input data just by a radio button to change the dimension and measure in graph or table view. This functionality (input control) is really helpful to your stories and dashboard design. You can use both measure and dimension in sap analytics cloud filter to change the view of graph and chart.

In this blog, we will guide you how you can create dimension Input Control widget available in SAP Analytics Cloud Story.

In below, we have taken example for table view where we will guide you how you can change dimension input control in SAC for Table view

Steps: For Dimension Input Control

Step 1:

• First you need to create one simple table view as shown below image we have one table view with “Region” as dimension and showing “Unit Sold” and “Unit cost” for Region dimension
• Suppose you need one more table for same measure but for another dimension called Country
• Then in this case you don’t need to create another table you can use same table and change the dimension with input control

Step 2:

• Now select the table area and select designer window
• you will see “Region” at rows area, as shown below image
• now you need to add input control in rows area, please follow next step

Step 3:

• now click on “+ Add Dimensions” option
• you will see “+ create Dimension Input Control” option then click on that option

Step 4:

• This will open new window with all dimension available with the dataset
• Select dimension which you would like to have as Input Control
• We have selected “Country” as you can see right side of in below image
• Now click on Ok button

Step 5:

1. Once you will click on Ok button, you will se rectangular shape box on the top left corner of you story/dashboard
2. And also you will see “New dimension input control” option in rows, as show in below image

Step 6:

• Now just expand the rectangular box and you will se both dimension in box “Region” and “Country” with radio button
• As the selection of dimension you Table view will get change accordingly
• You can select numbers of dimension in one box, so you can see same table by region, country, city, state etc ….

Step 7:

• As we selected country the table view has changed the view by country for “Unit Sold” and “Unit cost“, as shown below image

This way you can create dimension input control in sap analytics cloud which will helpful to view different dimension in same table and graph.
