Heat Map Chart In SAC

Introduction: A Heat Map chart in SAC is a data visualization technique which is used to shows heat or weightage of quantity or amount in the form of colors on two dimensions. The color variation on the heat map will show in boxes, which tell users that which area is more effective either good or bad ways depends on the measures which user will used to show the Heat map in Sac.

Examples:

If you are showing profit by Country for region then more high color box shows good thing about your growth in that country

If you are showing environmental data which have flood impacted cities then more high color will show more impacted cities.

Below you will se step wise guide how you can design Heat Map chart in SAC:

Steps: Heat Map Chart In SAC

Step 1:

  • Open your story page and insert chart on story page
  • It will insert the blank chart layout as shown below image
  • Click on the chart you will see the right side window with designer option which have all chart type option
  • select the Heat map chart option

Step 2:

  • Now select one Dimension for x-Axis and one Dimension for Y-Axis. In our case we have selected Product and City
  • Now select one measure as Color, which will show the density of colors for on above dimensions.
  • You will see the Heat Map chart on left side of chart area as shown below image

Step 3:

  • By default SAP analytics cloud always take the blue colors in heat map chart in SAC.
  • You can change the color of heat map by using color range option just below Color text.
  • You can also put the filters if you need to apply background filter, story filter or page filters for heat map in SAC

Step 4:

  • If you would like to show heat map for each region and product for your dataset as separate heat map
  • Then you need to use trellis feature in SAC, which help you to analyze one chart frame for different dimensions as shown below image
