To show data in table/grid format are very effective way of displaying data, specially when you have more measures to show as columns. In table, if you like to perform the calculation in rows, you can perform easily by using SAP analytics cloud option called Row Calculation.
In this way you can combine / group two rows and create new Row with calculation
Lets take below steps a example how you can create grouping and Row Calculation in SAP Analytics Cloud
Steps: Row Calculation in SAP Analytics Cloud
Step 1:
- First you need to create table using story board
- Then select the Rows and columns as selection of Dimensions and Measures from design window as shown below image. we have selected “Total profit” and “Total Revenue”
Step 2:
- Lets try to create Row calculation in table
- First lets categories the Food and Fashion Items as shown below image. Red box as Food and Green box as Fashion
- Accordingly we will select these rows and make the Sum calculation to perform row calculation in SAp analytics Cloud
Step 3:
- Now select these Food items rows
- Then right click and select > Add Calculation > Sum > Single
Step 4:
- Now you will see new row has been inserted as name Sum (as marked in below image)
- And you can also see the formula in top Formula bar . i.e it is the summation of top 4 rows
Step 5:
- Now to make it more uniform and more appealing, lets format it and rename it
- You can double click on Sum cell and rename with Food
- Select the same cell and click on right side Styling window and then select Bold and centre align and size of text bit larger then other rows
- You will see Food sum in below all food items as shown below image
Step 6:
- Now do the same steps for Fashion items, select these Fashion items rows
- Then right click and select > Add Calculation > Sum > Single
Step 7:
- Now to make it more uniform and more appealing, lets format it and rename it
- You can double click on Sum cell and rename with Fashion
- Select the same cell and click on right side Styling window and then select Bold and centre align and size of text bit larger then other rows
- You will see Fashion row as sum in below all food items as shown below image
Step 8:
- Now if you would like to show total then select Food and Fashion rows and again click on > Add Calculation > Sum > Single
Step 9:
- you will see last rows as total row and rename it as Total and format the same way as you did for Food and Fashion
Below you will see the final table including the grouping of rows and row calculation to make very uniform data presentation for Food and Fashion items with total
