SAP Analytics Cloud Import excel data

Introduction

In SAP analytics cloud you have below two options to import your dataset to build stories and visualization on Analytics cloud. SAP analytics cloud import excel has easy steps and it will upload your data on SAP cloud to play with dataset.

From CSV or Excel file

This option in SAP analytics cloud to import data from excel/flat file without live connection to the data source, in this case every month you need to update data in excel file.

From a Data source

This option is only use if you would like to have live connection with your dataset, like SAP HANA, SAP BW, Salesforce, Microsoft SQL etc. so you don’t need to update backend data every month and end user will see updated data in stories and visualization direct from data source.

Import Excel data Steps

before start steps please ready with your dataset in Excel to be import.

Step 1:

  • Click on Menu option then more option and then Dataset

  • You will see the two option like below

Step 2:

  • Select “From CSV or Excel File” option to import you Excel dataset
  • you will see the below window to brows the excel dataset location from your PC/Laptop

Step 3:

  • Once you will select the Excel dataset it will show the file name on window as shown below image
  • then click on Import option

Step 4:

  • Then after import you need to select the location/folder where you want to save the data set, You can also create your own folder. (with option as marked with green box)

Note; if you will save file in public folder then your data will be visible by any users.

  • Once you will saved the file on location it analytics Cloud will start importing your excel data into the cloud

  • And after final data import it will show you the detailed upload data set as shown below image

Note: on screen it will show you only 2000 data rows just as to show dataset and numbers of columns imported

Step 5:

  • And finally you will see imported dataset as shown below image
  • you will also se the dataset overview tab on right side and save option on file menu, click on save option to double check it is saved

Where you can see your saved dataset 

If you want to see SAP analytics cloud import excel  data then You need to go Menu again of left side of your analytics cloud  home page

click on Files > My Files and you will se dataset as marked in red box in below image. all your uploaded and saved dataset can see in this path and location.
