For any Story / Dashboard in SAP analytics cloud, filter is important to view your analysis on different dimensions, example filter by Region, Country, city, product type. It will be easy to analyse different angle of results. Story filter in SAP Analytics Cloud is one of the option to do filtering at different dimensions.
In SAP Analytics Cloud has the options to define filters as Story Filter and Page Filter. Filter can be apply both for chart and table in SAC. In this article you will read how you can put Story Filter in SAC.
Difference between Page Filter and Story Filters
| Page Filter In SAC | Story Filter In SAC |
| Apply Page filter only restricted to single or particular page of the story | Apply Story filter work for all pages within Story. |
| We can connect or disconnect Page filter with different chart/tables within page | There is no any connect or disconnect function for Story filter. It is by default connected to all pages chart/tables |
Below are steps to apply Story filters in SAC

Step1:
- If you would like to apply Story filter in SAC story page then just go to that page
- Select Icon in Tools Menu as shown in below Image
Step2:
- You will se Icon on top of story as shown below image

- Once you will click on icon you will see two option dimension or measures
- Click on one option on which you want to put story filter
- below we have selected “Dimensions” for country
Step4:
- You will see all members of country window as show below image
- Either you can select few members in country OR “All Members” as well, good option to select “All Members” option
- Next click OK
Step5:
- we have did Story Filter for two dimensions: Country and Sales Channel (as you can se in below image)
- So you can put any numbers of story filters.
Step6:
- In below final chart we have applied Story filter on Country=”Bahrain and Australia” and on Sales Channel=”Online”
- And accordingly chart changes its numbers as shown below image
